Day 8

Today I was a little more discouraged. Last night, K peed her bed not once, but twice. Once at 11:30pm and once at 5am. Each time, she started crying/screaming and was standing in her bed when I came in the room. Thankfully I picked out some great crib sheets when buying stuff pre-baby: Quick Zip crib sheets. I don't have to wrestle the mattress out of the crib in the middle of the night to change them, just zip off the sheet, swap out the waterproof underpad (that I borrowed from the hospital while training), and zip on the new dry sheet.
I suppose I should be encouraged that she woke up each time she peed, and that she was able to pee a good amount in the potty after I got her up. She hardly had any water at dinner, so I'm not sure if all the urine maybe came from the tons of asparagus she ate for dinner.
Then tonight we ventured out to dinner with her. She peed before we left and we put our My Carry Potty in the diaper bag just in case. She did great - didn't need to pee at all while we were out (the restaurant serves dinner quickly). Unfortunately, though we cheered for her dry panties after we got home and I told her to tell me when she had to pee, a little later she looked down at herself, looked concerned, and said "schnell pipi" (fast peepee). I raced her to the washroom, but it was too late, her undies were a bit wet and so were her pants. Again, it wasn't so bad, because she recognized the problem and stopped herself from peeing more, as the wetness was only in the crotch and she peed a good amount on the potty.
We'll see what this night brings!

In other news, we had a nice playdate with another friend today. K is 1 month younger than her, but much taller. And has way way less hair. I guess her energy is going into height rather than her follicles. The other little girl was very shy, but K ended up giving her a couple kisses when we sat the two of them together on the couch for a photo op. She was good at sharing her toys too.
Unfortunately, she wouldn't sing on command. She can sing Twinkle twinkle and ABCs pretty much on her own. She can sing parts of The Wheels on the Bus. She can sing parts of "Backe Backe Kuchen". And over the last few days, she's started singing other things to the melody of songs that she knows. It's very cute.
She's obsessed with these youtube videos by barefoot books - if you haven't seen them, you should check them out. I love most of them myself. She's always wanting to sit on my lap and watch them on my laptop.
K's a great eater for the most part. She's pretty skilled with a spoon and does well with a fork too. She still loves sushi, asparagus, shrimps, and pretty much whatever food someone else has on their plate. At potlucks the nannies have from time to time, she apparently has to try a bit of everything. She sure takes after her Mama!
