First steps!

K took her first real steps today. She's been able to stand on her own, balancing for up to a minute at a time, for a while now. She's usually best at that when she's got something in her hands and is distracted. She's also been good at walking beside us, holding onto one of our fingers with one of her hands. And she can do well pushing her walker toy - she's gotten much better over the last couple weeks at standing upright while pushing and controlling her speed, especially as she approaches a wall. This evening, DH and I were in the living room with K, and he was lying on his back on her playmat with his knees bent up. K was cruising along his knee and decided that she wanted to get over to the coffee table. And then she let go and took two steps before grabbing onto the coffee table. I don't think she quite understood why we were so excited and clapping. A little later on, DH was sitting on the playmat and I was sitting a little bit away on our ottoman with Kara cruising around my legs. DH reached out his hands, called to K, and she let go and took 4 steps to get over to him. We set up our Flip to video the play area, and hopefully we caught her next attempt at walking (two steps from the couch arm to me) on camera. It's going to be exciting to see how quickly she progresses with the walking now! And sometime in the last two days (I was working last night so I wasn't home to give her her bedtime bottle and use a cloth to clean her teeth before bed) K cut tooth number 6. She's growing up so fast!

It happens so fast, doesn't it? I cannot believe that she is WALKING while I have been away...

Glad we can keep in touch more since I am GOING to be a better blogger. (Hear that determination?)
